Dota 2 is back in Southeast Asia in the form of ESL One 2022, which will commence in the Arena of Stars at Resorts World Genting in Malaysia. Before the Last Chance qualifier for The International 2022 starts, this minor will be the final LAN event. The prize pool for this tournament will be $400,000, distributed among the top-performing teams, and no DPC points will be awarded for this minor tournament.
After the Kuala Lumpur major in 2018, this will be one of the major events where spectators will be allowed to witness the pro-players compete for the title.
The minor will take place between August 23-28 in the Arena of Stars. The group stage matches will start from August 23–25, and the playoffs will be from August 26–28.
This minor will feature 12 teams, of which six will be invited, and the remaining six must qualify through regional qualifiers held in their respective regions.
The directly invited teams include the 2-time back-to-back TI Champions OG, Fnatic, The Alliance, Team Liquid, Team Secret, and Nigma Galaxy. The teams that have won the qualifiers of their specific region are TSM, Thunder Awaken, Entity Gaming, Team Aster, Boom Esports, and Talon Esports.
Let’s look at some of the fan-favorite teams of the tournament that are capable of lifting the trophy along with their most valuable players (MVP).
OG: The two-time consecutive TI champions are undoubtedly one of the tournament’s favorites. The ESL One Stockholm major winners are doing well in the current PGL Arlington, where they have defeated Entity 2-1 and advanced to the semifinals. They have a reputation for making aggressive and erratic plays that have the power to change the course of any game at any time. The original lineup consists of Artem “Yuragi” Golubiev, Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov, Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf, Tommy “Taiga” Le, Mikhail “Misha” Agatov, and Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, who serves as a temporary replacement.
The MVPs for OG are Yuragi andbzm.
TEAM LIQUID: Team Liquid is another competitive team that has the potential to win the dota2 tournament. They are not performing that well in the ongoing PGL Arlington, with a series loss against Fnatic and three draws. They had a completely different roster when they last competed in Malaysia, where they finished as the event’s runner-up. The current roster of Team Liquid consists of
This team of Ludwig “Zai” Wahlberg, Aydin “iNsania” Sarkohi, Michael “miCKe” Vu, Samuel “Boxi” Svahn, and Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen is pretty capable of winning if they perform well.
NIGMA GALAXY: This team is a combination of elite players renowned on the Dota 2 professional circuit. This roster is capable of crushing any opposition under any conditions. This galaxy of stars is led by Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi and accompanied by Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi, Syed “SumaiL” Hassan, Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Ivanov, and Maroun “GH” Merhej.
Miracle and SumaiL are, without a doubt, the two MVPs for Nigma Galaxy.
Team Secret: Team Secret is another group of seasoned athletes competing for the championship. Team Secret performed exceptionally well in the Riyadh Masters 2022 and finished 4th on the table. The roster’s current members include Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok, Micha “Misha” Jankowski, Remco “Crystallis” Arets, Bakyt “Zayac” Emilzhanov, and the captain, Clement “Puppey” Ivanov.
The MVPs for Team Secret are Misha and Resolut1on.
